One of the question we get asked the most is; When should I take CBD? This article aims to help you make that decision based on a number of variables.

Morning, lunchtime or evening?

CBD may cause effects for you individually that make a certain time better than another. Some people report awakening effects from CBD and some feel more relaxed after consumption. If you do feel energised you may decide that the morning works better for you, or possibly at lunchtime to give you a boost for the rest of the day. Whereas those who feel more relaxed, may choose to take CBD in the evening.

When triggered?

It is best to incorporate CBD into your daily routine however there may be certain triggers that work as a reminder for you to use your CBD product. With this in mind its important to know how long different consumptions methods take to work. For example inhaling CBD (vaping) will have the quickest onset — around 10 minutes after consumption. Edibles will take longer to enter the bloodstream — between 1 and 2 hours on average.

With food?

Certain reports suggest that CBD should be taken with food to maximize absorption, and that a low-fat meal may not have the same absorption boosting effect as one that is higher in fat. This is an area receiving further research and we will share more information when it becomes available.

CBD and sport

There has also been studies looking at whether CBD can help bodies function more fluently while they’re exercising. This can be attributed to the fact that CBD works with the endocannabinoid system, which helps regulate a whole host of functions including sleep cycle, energy level, coordination, metabolism, and much more. On this basis, you may chose to take CBD before or after a workout or sporting activity.

Things to consider

CBD remains active in our bodies for approximately 4–12 hours. This will depend on your level of intake, method of consumption and individual factors such as your height and weight. You may decide to reduce the number of mg you consume in one sitting and spread this out throughout the day to offer a more sustained level of CBD in your system.

In summary, there is no hard and fast answer on when it is best to take CBD as this will vary depending on many of the factors above. It is best to make the decision based on your unique circumstance and schedule.
